Georgia Fans

I am not a Georgia fan (not a hater, just not a fan) but I found this great little tidbit of information on ESPN about the game with Florida. Apparently so many teachers from a particular district in Georgia skip school for this game the district has decided to cancel school on the Friday beforehand.

The actual article can be read at the site below.

I just have to tip my hat to that kind of fan dedication. One of the things I really do love and respect about you SEC folk, is your loyalty and dedication to your teams.

just to edify...

my statement of not being a fan, I have on occasion rooted for you guys, but Georgia isn’t my team is what I meant. ..No disrespect.. honestly

I think the biggest thing is that the county that canceled school is also the county containing UGA. Most people in town have very strong ties to the school and therefore the football team. If there’s one trip that our fans count on taking year in and year out, it’s the homage to Jax.

For years . . .

. . . the University of Georgia student government tried to get the Friday before the Georgia-Florida game declared a “dead day”; classes could still be held, but no tests could be given on that day.

They finally succeeded after I graduated, dang it.

Too bad (for you) you were gone before it happened.

In Augusta

I’m in Augusta….while you can’t really declare a dead day in a hospital (not touching that one), it’s about as quiet as could be here. Even sick folk are waiting until after this weekend I think.
