The scenario has been laid out by the Ladies . . .:

You're standing in the on-deck circle, taking a few practice cuts and watching your teammate at the plate out of the corner of your eye.

Strike three.

Inhale. Grip tightens. Exhale.

You're up.

36,000 of your closest friends are on hand to watch. Couple million more at home. And you haven't made the highlight reel all week.

And there it is - that perfect song is blaring out over the loudspeakers.

Now you're ready to do battle.

The question is, "What song do you want playing as you stride to the plate?"

For me, the answer is easy: Warren Zevon's "Lawyers, Guns, and Money."

Mine always have swearing in them, so I wouldn't do too well.

The MC5 shouting "Kick out the jams, motherfucker!!!!" would be cool.

But I decided that the most foul thing ever would be Nick Cave's "Stagger Lee". In its defense, it is about the most badass man to ever walk the planet - he just happens to be an unredeemable psychopath.

Great question.

My friends and I have debated this endlessly at many a happy hour. I'd have to go with "The Terminator" theme if you're a David Ortiz type player or alternatively, Radiohead's "Airbag."

I have a friend from years ago... I have always expected that some day I will get a call from Bob in some backward third world country - he will shout into the phone "Send lawyers guns and money the sh*t has hit the fan" - I will hear a scream, a gunshot and the phone will go dead...

If I am on deck I want to hear AC/DC Back in Black... although if we stick with a Zevon theme Werewolves of London is a good second choice

Though entirely improbable...

I only ever achieved the most rudimentary baseball skills, so this is improbable at many levels. I would be torn between "Bomber" by Motorhead and "Do or Die" by the Super Furry Animals.

In reality, my only chance of making it to first base would be as a result of 4 balls, making the appropriate track "(You gotta walk) Don't look back" by the inimitable Peter Tosh, accompanied by Mick Jagger. It's almost as surreal as the idea of me taking up any variant of baseball.
