Cats-Dogs showdown for SEC East crown

In a rare bit of trash talking, I am over here challenging you fine folks to a duel ... baseball style.

This weekend Athens plays host to the hottest college baseball team in the country, Kentucky's #4 Bat Cats (19-8 SEC).

They own the best SEC record, and a 40-11 overall record in what is without a doubt the best regular season in school history.

My question is, are you Dawgs up for a little wager?

If the Bulldogs win the series, I'll post a pic on the front page of a big, slobbering bulldog.

But if my Wildcats take the road series, you have to post a firce-looking wildcat.

I must admit I'm nervous . . .

. . . but I'll take that action, if only because I believe the Bat Cats (despite having clinched at least a share of the Eastern Division crown) are the second-hottest team in the S.E.C., behind the one that is riding an 11-game winning streak.

Considering the vast disparities separating our respective basketball and football programs, it's nice that we have baseball as a sport at which Georgia and Kentucky can be competitive with one another.

May the better team win.

Totally agree ...

I have my doubts that the Bat Cats can honestly take this show to the CWS, just because it seems daunting and is a hard thing to do, but it's sure nice to have something to root for other than Spring basketball recruiting ...

It's on, baby.
