Does R.P.I. Stand For "Really Poor Indicator"?

Stay connected for news and updates

The N.C.A.A. men's basketball tournament is already well underway, but, as you work your way through your brackets, you should do so while bearing L.D.'s latest analysis in mind.

L.D. has looked at this year's tourney field, using the R.P.I. to determine which teams are seeded higher or lower than they should be, according to the ratings upon which the N.C.A.A. tournament selection committee relies heavily.

Among other interesting things, L.D.'s analysis tells us that an appropriately seeded Northwestern State got a "good draw" by being paired in the first round with an overseeded Iowa . . . and, sure enough, the Demons upset the Hawkeyes, 64-63.  Keep a close eye on L.D.'s numbers as the tournament progresses.

And now, your moment of Fenn:

Go 'Dawgs!
